While I appreciate and acknowledge that posting the chart below may be politically incorrect, the economist in me feels duty-bound to make the post regardless.
In many ways, the story of the past 62 years has been about the realities of being a man in our emerging post-modern society...

I like to look at these trends by decade.
Employment Growth vs. Population Growth by Decade
Executive Summary:
A very simple calculation reveals that the working age population (16 through 64), increased by 22 million in the first decade of the 21st century; employment growth for the decade was only 1 million jobs in the working age population.
Total employment creation for the decade was only 3.2 million, two thirds of the total employment growth went to persons 65 yrs. and older.

Hi Weaver, intersting -- thanks for the link...
What exactly is wrong with this chart? It seems like a good thing to me. More women are now working because they are less oppressed than in the past (I'm not a woman, if that matters.) I don't see how this shows "the reality of being a man" which seems to connotate that "times are tougher for men now" or "men are in decline".
Employment is not a "fixed pie" that allows for less for men now that women are working more. Jobs create jobs. The skills that women bring only adds to the pie and makes it bigger.
Hi Anonymous, your comments and observations are a testament for post-modern man, regards...

It might be more P.C. if you posted the EMP. to POP. ration for women also. Peak 57.6% in 2000, now 54.6%
Anonymous is under the impression that women are still gaining.
Here's a chart I did a few years ago Pop. to Emp MEN Under 65 with Business Immigration and Mexican Depression milestones.
