At this point, I see nothing coming from Washington, Wall Street, or overseas that can avert what is now a Main Street Depression in America. The reality of persistently high unemployment, the unprecedented and expanding number of foreclosures, the rising tide of regional and local bank failures, the dearth of investment capital for small business expansion, and the devastating deflation in home prices across the nation is indisputable. The Main Street Depression of the early 21st century is imploding America at its heart...

Yes, exactly as it should be. EVERYTHING flows to where it is most welcome. Business and investment are more welcome elsewhere, so that is where they are going, never to return. Those most negatively effected can have all the tantrums they want, there is nothing the government can do about it, short of make business and money welcome here and in a world where more than 50% of the voters pay no taxes and are in fact tax consumers, that will never happen.
I agree with you but this country was given away to communist China by corporate America. These corporations will be exiting the US altogether. They may keep some jobs and offices here but the wealth will leave as is happening now. The politicians are not going to act because they are afraid of being called protectionist. More of the middle class will disappear until the old politicians are out of office and new politicians that care about this country and people are elected.
These corporations can't "exit" the US simply because they were never "in" the US. They are multinational entities which can legitimately move large amounts of funds anywhere, any time. Those that have HQs here (and some who don't) write a lot more US laws than I do. The biggest joke of all is the intersection of corporate and US government interests. Remember UBS? 300+ years of "secure" Swiss banking? Then one day some US prosecutor decided that he wanted the names behind those tax evaders' numbered accounts. The Swiss forked over the numbers (but not Roman Polanski).
No way that "jobs" will be at the top of the billionaires' priority list any time soon when their very privacy is at stake!
